In dealing with the members of our temple, the provost unit is considered the Security force of the Shrine. When on convention, we work in conjunction with sworn officers of the city we are in to resolve issues that may come up.
Throughout the year, we provide security at functions of the temple such as meetings, parades, the circus, and any other function the Divan needs us. It’s a tough job but somebody has to do it!
When the unit was granted it’s charter, you had to be a sworn police officer either active or retired to become a member. Now, you need only be a member in good standing. New members prove themselves worthy during a one year probationary period.
Our unit is looking for a few good men. We meet at 7 p.m. the third Monday of every month except January when we meet at 7 p.m. the third Tuesday.
